In 1976, Robert Bost Associates was established in Laurel, MD to service the Baltimore/Washington DC Metro Areas. This began a long history of providing noise control solutions in the fields of HVAC Vibration Isolation and Architectural Noise Control along with custom engineering solutions and restraint for MEP systems. While the original employees of Robert C. Bost Associates have since retired, their legacy lives on.

Filtrex Incorporated opened their doors in 1988 in and quickly became the reputable source of providing and servicing top tier commercial aftermarket air filtration in spaces in Baltimore and surrounding counties. As their business continued to grow, the Filtrex team expanded to provide fore-market (new construction) solutions as well.

In 2008, to further the expansion of the Architectural Acoustical product offering, Robert Bost Associates was acquired by Ketchum & Walton Company.

In 2012, Filtrex Incorporated was also acquired by Ketchum & Walton Company.

With a common customer base and common goal of providing the best service possible, a relationship was born between Bost Associates and Filtrex.

Operating independently for the first few years, in 2017, Robert C. Bost Associates, and Filtrex Incorporated merged their operations in Frederick, MD to become Bost & Filtrex, Inc. (BFI). This merger of offices solidified Bost & Filtrex as the “go-to” resource in the DMV region for all sound control and air filtration needs.

Once joining forces in Frederick, MD, BFI, became a single source for their partners, including: engineers, architects, HVAC/Mechanical contractors and end users for all vertical market sectors.

In order to keep up with the growing markets needs, BFI moved their location from Frederick to Germantown, MD in 2021 expanding both their office and warehouse spaces.
